(Reuters) -The World Monetary Fund executive board acknowledged Friday it had concluded its fourth and fifth opinions for Ecuador’s 27-month Extended Fund Facility (EFF), allowing for the fast disbursement of about $1 billion.
The board acknowledged Ecuadorian authorities planned to make use of the funds for budget enhance.
The announcement comes after merely about two weeks of on occasion-violent mass protests led by indigenous groups anxious lower fuel and food prices.
